KT Benard CPDT-KA
&
Jon Benard CPDT-KA
Kathleen (KT) Benard has been working with dogs since 2007, and began training dogs shortly after that, by interning with local professional dog trainers. KT founded Pawsitive Canine Care & Training, and obtained her certification through the nation's leading professional dog training certification association. KT is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed, as well as an AKC Evaluator, APDT, PPG and IAABC associate member. KT is committed to using up-to-date positive reinforcement training, and continues her education by attending annual accredited conferences, and educational seminars presented by the nation's top positive trainers.
KT has spent years working with multiple local shelters, rescues, veterinary offices, doggy day cares and pet shops. She volunteers much of her time to fostering homeless dogs, and helps to rehabilitate and re-home dogs in need.
Flash forward to 2013, KT met her now husband Jon Benard, who proposed to her one evening at a puppy transport station, while unloading rescue puppies off of a transportation truck. Jon is a Behavioral Health Specialist, and has spent years working with children with disabilities.

Jon has also fostered and volunteered for multiple shelters and rescues,
and realized his passion for helping and training dogs professionally as well. He has worked in doggy day cares, and specializes in structured socialization, play-group supervising and dog-to-dog interactions. Jon also passed his Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed exam and continues his education in positive reinforcement training through webinars and seminars each year!

In 2018, KT and Jon decided to make their dreams a reality. They moved to Windham, Maine, and opened a dog boarding and training facility next door to their home! Pawsitive Canine Care & Training is now a full service boarding, daycare, and training operation. They are ecstatic and over-joyed to turn their passion into reality, and help dogs and their owners who are in need of quality care, and trust-worthy behavioral education.

Jon and KT have a young daughter named Cambria, who is an aspiring dog trainer and animal enthusiast as well. They also have a pit-bull mix named Diamond, a pug mix named Puca, a border collie mix named Vanna, and a bearded dragon! In their spare time, Jon, KT, and Cambria enjoy going hiking and camping, and going on adventures together as a family!

Haley Fawcett
Manager & Resident Trainer
Haley has been working with dogs with behavioral issues for over 4 years and is on her way to her CPDT-KA this spring! Haley has been a Pet Professional Guild Associate for over 4 years. She has a passion for studying and using food & proper nutrition to promote health, effectively deal with allergies, and manage appropriate weight in canines. She hosts group classes and private sessions here at our facility every month. She also enjoys working through aggression cases with local rescues! She has two rescues of her own, Oliver and Bruno that challenge her daily in all areas of her field. In her spare time she loves to hike and spend time on the lake with her family! She moved here all the way from the Orono area to take this position and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board!

Emily Corrales
Manager & Resident Trainer
Emily is one of our managers and resident trainers here at Pawsitive Canine Care! She has a passion for all animals, but has a special place in her heart for the old, sick, and special needs. She’s got three pups of her own, Danny the three-legged Rottweiler mix, Percy, a former PCC foster, and Willa the Shepard mix! In Emily's spare time, she coaches two ice hockey teams (one high school and one college)! Her ultimate dream is to open a sanctuary for senior dogs. We absolutely love having her on board!

Amy Craves
Resident Trainer
Amy is one of our Resident Trainers here at our facility. Amy has been working with dogs for 20 years, and has been obsessed with them for life. With a combination of veterinary, daycare, boarding, training, and mushing experience, she has a unique skill set. In her spare time Amy enjoys racing and training her two sled dogs, Gallatin and Royce as well as anything that gets her outside! She loves all dogs, but has a passion for working with high drive breeds. Here at PCCT she hopes to pass on her addiction to dog powered sports to the working breeds clients!
